The Modern Fanny Pack

"Fanny Pack"...... Just hearing those two words together is enough to inspire an "Ugh" reaction out of almost anyone. I'm pretty sure everyone's mom had one. However, as trends usually do, the butt bag is making a come back, with a new twist of course. And a new name, Belt Purses. Suri the Crusader!

At only four years old, adorable little Suri Cruise already knows what it means to be animal and eco-friendly and still get what she wants from the fashion world. Out on a girl's day with mommy, Katie Holmes, in Vancouver she was seen wearing a cute, cozy faux fur coat. According to Katie, Suri has been picking out her own clothes since she was only 1 1/2! She expressed to mommy that she would like to have a mink coat, thus inspiring a trip to the PETTING ZOO!! Resulting in Suri changing her mind and asking for a faux fur coat instead.

Look out yougins of the world. Soon, if not already, you will all look to Suri for your eco-friendly fashion guidance. She is already being considered one of the best dressed little tykes in Hollywood. Teensy weensy trend setter :)

Raw Denim

Raw denim is denim that isn't washed after it's dyed during it's production. It also hasn't been pre-faded or distressed to give it that "I'm a painter/carpenter on the weekends" look that consumers seem to dig so much. Raw denim isn't pre-shrunken either. All of that is left up to YOU. To break in a pair of dry denim jeans, and achieve that perfect like-a-glove fit, wearers have been known to soak in the tub with their jeans on, hang their unwashed denim for days, do many rounds of lunges, sleep in them, etc. Sounds like torture, but totally worth it. In the words of Garth Algar in Wayne's World, "It's like a new pair of underwear. At first it's constrictive, but after a while it becomes a part of you."

Sparkle Your Mondays Away!

Who hasn't had the Monday blues? It just seems for most of us starting back to work on Monday is never a breeze...or fabulous. YET...it is the start of the week it is the first day of a week w could make into the best week of our lives. So, in an effort to help make ALL Mondays better from here on out, deem Monday  sparkle day. I don't mean wer a sequin jumpsuit to the office.... (that might get you fired and hired on as Richard Simmons' assistant ). But below are a few effortless ideas to help you sparkle on Monday. PS....It is pyschologically proven that sparkly things improve our moods! 

Wear glittery eye make up....whether it be eye liner or sparling shadow

Choose a sparkling pursue to carry, every time you reach for your lip gloss or a you'll get an eye full of happiness!

Wear a pair of bedazzled shoes....(probably under long pants) but still Sparkles really go with anything!

Sparkles on clothing can be acceptable as long as it's not over powering

I actually own shoes, and thought I would only be able to ever wear them one time. In reality, they pair with EVERYTHING...and make me smile every time I rock them

The Invasion

Continuing with the "trending towards horror" theme, I've noticed over the last couple years that celebs tend to opt for cheekbone implants to maintain their "youthful" appearance. Not so sure if I would refer to the end result as youthful, instead I see more of an out-of-this-world effect. When the mothership finally lands on Earth, they will be greeted as fellow ETs rather than made to be subservient pets like the rest of the human race. They must know something we don't.

Trending to HORROR

Being an actress I realize that a lot, in fact most movie stars today, got their start in horror movies. It's never been the direction I've taken (mabe that's why I still live on the East coast!), but I've never thought it weird.....until I started noticing that some of these stars are trending back to their roots. Someone PLEASE call MF, and let her know horror movies were great to kick off her career, but looking like a horror movie will not revitalize her career....... OH DEAR!!!!!

Pajama does not equal Jeans

One of our readers emailed me and asked me if MOM jeans coming back into fashion meant Pajama jeans would be an acceptable option. I want to make this clear.....Mom jeans have a high waist should be tight and should be denim with maybe a little bit of spandex.... (only if they're cheap).... Sweat pants with seams are sweat pants with seams. Unless you happen to be able to work from home, these are not an acceptable option for wear.

FYI, these will NEVER cycle into fashion.

I'm jealous of a 14 year old....

Hailee Steinfeld, the incredibly talented young lady that stars in True Grit next to Hollywood heavy weights Jeff Bridges and Matt Damon, is definitely making a name for herself with her signature style as well as her acting chops. At only 14, her designer dresses and cute ensembles make me want to fire up the flux capacitor, go back in time 14 years, become Hailee's bestie and borrow her clothes. Yes I realize that there are a couple of errors in that scenario, but just go with it. She's so cute!!!!
